consultant psychiatrists

We are seeking expressions of interest from consultant psychiatrists who may wish to apply for admitting privileges or consulting room space.

Located on Sydney’s upper north shore, Gordon Private opened in July 2018.

We are an independent mental health facility and our focus is to inspire hope and promote wellness in every patient on their road to recovery.

Gordon Private has 57 inpatient beds and treats a full range of mental health conditions. We admit patients over 16 years of age. We offer TMS and DBT skills-based Day Programs.

Our VMO’s are supported by a full-time CMO, allied health team including clinical psychologists, social workers, experienced mental health nurses, art therapists and nutritionists. 

The hospital is proximate to major public hospitals including Hornsby & Royal North Shore Hospitals and our referral base is state-wide.

Affiliated with the School of Psychiatry, University of New South Wales there are opportunities for conjoint status, teaching and research.

Secure parking is available onsite with train and bus transport within walking distance.

Applicants should have Fellowship of RANZCP and current AHPRA registration.

Registered nurses

We are currently looking for registered nurses to provide clinical services to patients with a variety of mental health disorders including trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis and addictions.

Our RNs work closely with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, psychiatrists and allied health staff by providing coordinated clinical care and treatment in accordance with best practice and clinical guidelines. RNs undertake mental health assessments, general health checks and facilitate mental health treatment plans.

RNs should have current nursing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA), experience in the provision of mental health care and treatment interventions that use current evidence-based approaches.

Essential knowledge and skills include -

  • Understanding of the principles and issues relevant to coordinated, multidisciplinary team approaches in the provision of mental health services.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of people.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive team member.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

  • High levels of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to changing work environments and requirements.

  • Willingness to work on a rotating roster basis.

group facilitators

An exciting opportunity is available for suitably qualified group facilitators.

The therapist will provide ongoing group and individual therapy and assessment to patients experiencing a variety of mental health disorders including trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis and addictions. Experience in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder is essential.

The role is open to psychologists, social workers, clinical psychologists, counsellors, occupational therapists and mental health nurses.

Essential criteria:

  • Relevant registration and qualifications in your field

  • Experience facilitating group programs.

  • Training and experience in CBT and DBT.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

  •  Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver quality patient care

  • Be adaptable, self-motivate and flexible in your approach.

  • Commitment to excellence in the delivery of healthcare services to patients seeking mental health treatment.
