Welcome to gordon private hospital

Gordon Private Hospital is a 57-bed teaching hospital affiliated with UNSW.

Patients and their families turn to us because they know they need something more comprehensive and would like an expert team that is ready to provide guidance to overcome their issues.

Our approaches embody commitment towards our patients and our care plans are practical and evidence-based designed to enable recovery and relapse-prevention.

We offer a safe and welcoming environment with stylish and comfortable accommodation, leisure and outdoor areas. Patients have a choice of single rooms all with an ensuite and a single king-size bed. Many rooms have district views over the tree canopy of Ku-ring-gai.

Fresh delicious meals are prepared daily and we are located within easy walking distance to transport, shops and cosmopolitan cafes.

Young Adult Unit

Gordon Private Hospital’s Young Adult Unit provides highly specialised treatment for those aged 16 – 24 years of age.

Mental health problems often first appear in adolescence or early adulthood with 75% occurring before the age of 24.

Recent research indicates that early intervention and treatment dramatically impact the course of mental illness and that many young adults can go on to live normal and productive lives with appropriate treatment. Early intervention can help young adults get better more quickly and prevent problems from becoming worse.

Our objective is to identify and treat emerging mental health problems as early as possible through youth-friendly evidence-based interventions to reduce the severity and impact of the condition.

DBT

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is skills-based treatment that can help people manage their emotions more effectively, improve their interpersonal relationships, increase their ability to tolerate distress and be more mindful of their thoughts, feelings and behaviour. The goal of the DBT Skills Day Program is to help people to stop using self-damaging behaviours as a means of regulating their emotions and to build more adaptive coping strategies. DBT was originally designed to treat Borderline Personality Disorder but there is now evidence to support its effectiveness in treating a wide range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD and addictive behaviours.
